Family history – it’s for the future

I’ve been researching my family history for several years. My research has been recorded on the Ancestry genealogical website in the form of a family tree; great for an overview, but dense to read and hard to navigate, especially for those unused to viewing a family tree. Also, it’s difficult to record the stories of my ancestors on a family tree – people’s lives are more than a set of dates. Using a blog to record the information in these stories is much more accessible, especially as I don’t see it as ‘my’ information – it belongs to the wider family.

Who Am I?

I’m Andrea Little, nee Watson. My parents are Gary and June Watson (nee Howarth). I’ve had many jobs over the years – shop assistant; bank officer (CBA/ Westpac and BNZ); computer operator at a sharebroker’s (in the early days of computerisation); university student and graduate – a B.A (Hons) First Class in History and subsequently a newspaper and magazine writer and sub-editor. I currently own and operate a small business with my husband Tony, importing, wholesaling and retailing a range of baby and kids’ sun and sound safety gear – the Banz Carewear range.
